‚ÄčAcadiana Chapter - 82nd Airborne Division Association

On Tuesday May 9, 2017, a special event occurred.  Eight soldiers from Ft. Polk, LA traveled to Rosedale, LA and paid a visit to our Chapter member, Jack Rogillio veteran of WWII 506th PIR of the 101st Airborne Division.  Jack is 98 years young.  He and his wife of 76 years Ms. Felicie Rogillio and their three children were present.  His children, are; Jackie Rogillio, Rochelle and Joseph "Joe" Jr.

The visit energized Jack as he related his experiences as a WWII 506th PIR paratrooper of the 101st Airborne Division.  He spoke about the combat jump at Normandy France on June 5/6, 1944 and the combat jump into Holland on 17 September 1944.  He also told of their arduous move into Bastogne, Belgium and the following intense combat.

The soldiers from the 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion at Ft. Polk, LA were: SFC Heffley; SSG Marshall; CPL Grove; SPC Malone; SPC Howard; SPC Lemenager, and MAJ Ashe from the JRTC PIO Office.  All of the young soldiers were in awe of this American Paratrooper Warrior from the "Greatest Generation."
